BEING BLACK IS NOT A CRIME!

#BLACK LIVES MATTER - birth of the movement  https://blacklivesmatter.com/about/herstory/

"our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter" - Martin Luther King jnr.

Being black is defined as a subject of extreme abuse and oppression based upon the inaccurate or faulty perception of inferiority of the oppressor.

Social media is known as a tool and a platform in which media specialists use to communicate their message through to their target audience, through this platform; organisations, public relations practitioners and campaigns are able to raise awareness about the message they trying to convey. The #BLACKLIVESMATTER movement begin 4 years ago and until this day it continues to maintain presence on social media.

It's so confusing on how colour defines people in this world; the darker you are the more hatred gets painted on you just to make you darker than you generally appear. #BLACKLIVESMATTER, It's so confusing on how they preach the word of the Lord but yet turn their backs against God's creations. #BLACKLIVESMATTER, Black people are seen as a primate that has a long tail, lives in tress and behaves in a silly or playful way; a monkey perhaps? #BLACKLIVESMATTER, These are the type of questions and comments that appeared on people timelines when the #BLACKLIVESMATTER movement was trending.

Opportunities

Advantages of social media in public relations is that it enables sharing of information instantly, in which the information will trend and travel faster than traditional media, it allows the target market/people to express their feelings about the topic in a subjective manner. It allows interaction of conversations between the target audience and public relations practioners, social  media helps public relations practitioners/industry with their research on their target audiences, what they like, what they don’t like and the feedback they get from the target audience.

Challenges
Disadvantages of social media in public relations is that there will be negativity and negative feedback on social media about a particular post depending on the type of audience, not everyone will agree with what is being posted or said, the #BLACKLIVESMATTER created hatefulness among different groups of people to the point where they created #ALLLIVESMATTER and #BLACKLIVESDON’TMATTER. https://theconversation.com/the-backlash-against-black-lives-matter-is-just-more-evidence-of-injustice-85587

In conclusion I recommend that future campaigns need to make sure that their message is not misunderstood; for example black lives matter movement is taken as a racial or sexiest message by different groups of people, that’s why they came up with #BLACKLIVESDON’TMATTER and #ALLLIVESMATTER.

  1. The #blacklivesmatter movement is not even about white people. It's just giving black people the platform to speak out and voice their fustrations with hopes of being heard. I don't understand why some people see it as a racial or sexist message.

    1. @Hope, I totally agree with your statement because not only does our skin colour limit our freedom of speech, it is also a reminder of our history and that history does repeat itself therefore this makes white people think we out there for revenge.

    1. @Nosipho I couldn't disagree with your statement as a young black woman, I do believe skin does not define nor make us different from any other racial groups. The basic needs they need;we also do need, what makes us more different??

    2. Social media has played a very good role in the distribution and bring awareness to this issue, because it is one of the most sensitive issues faced by the black race, I totally agree, black lives do matter, why should we be treated differently?just because we are black?, why should we be killed for now valid reason?, I am just proud that at last we as black people are able to stand up and let our voices be heard #BlackLivesMatter

  3. Black lifes do matter and the fact that we have to remind people of that because we are seen as "so different" from them is sad. No matter how long we've tried to pretend that the past is behind us, we are still treated unfairly and unequally. However, it's pretty great that being black is being celebrated and we are more powerful than ever.

    1. @Kokesto, personally i feel like we only celebrated so that we can forget about our histroy, in a way we manipulated into thinking our lives matter when they actually don't in other peoples eyes.

  6. My perception is that Being Black is a blessing from the good Lord becuase that is how he wanted you to be created, which means you are special and unique in your own special way. Being black may have been a problem during the apartheid era because people werent united & were split alongside treated unfairly because of their skin Colour. We are now in a generation of unity where everyone is equal despite being Black which now means #BlackLivesMatter.

The BlackLivesMatterCampaign is the best becuase it helps to contribute through motivating young individuals who are afraid on what will people say because of their skin colour. This campaign plays a role of inspiring ,motivating and encouraging fellows black children whom are embarassed about their skin colour not to be, becuase now BlackLivesMatter & as the well known saying says Black os Beautiful.

    1. @Teboho well this campaign was started when young black men were killed by white police for no reason, clearly it still proves that black lives don't matter and history repeats itself. All i have to say is that we need to be careful and awoke at all times.

  7. However we will always suffer because of our skin colour. Racism has lived for decades and assuring it is our human nature that it'll die out at some point.

  8. @Queen I really pray it dies out at some point because it really is slowing down our nation.
